The Longest Halloween

It’s finally over – what has to be the longest Halloween celebration ever! Four days of parties, cupcakes, little kids in oversized Trump heads, miniature Harry Potters with wands, and one pair of highly annoying grim reaper gloves that my son whined about every single time he put them on. Every. Single. Time.

But, no matter the pain, it truly was a fun intro to the fall season.

Halloween in the mountains is always colorful in a picturesque, leaves falling, worthy of a Norman Rockwell painting, kind of way. It’s also a great time for photos which started, yep,  five days ago at school.

Luckily, our school embraces the holiday with a parade in the morning and parties in the afternoon. Teachers dress up, too. I decided to edit all the school photos in black and white because the kids were so darn cute and I really wanted to show off their personalities as only monochrome can do.

Following the school photos are images from Halloween night. Because it was unseasonably warm across the country, not all costumes stayed on. But it didn’t stop the masses from wandering down the streets for candy. Or in my son’s case…running full-speed from house to house with friends because…why?! Who knows! But try keeping up with them wearing a large, purple, Madonna tutu and spangles. Not easy. I lost the tutu when the boys decided to cut through a thorn bush which I later learned is a spot frequented by a neighborhood bear. But we arrived safely back at the “staging area” covered in sweat with pillowcases full of candy. Which reminds me…time to go raid the candy before the kids get home from school because that’s the rule, right???

Very patient teacher 😉
