10 on 10 – July [Heber Springs Photographer, Little Rock Photographer]

(10 on 10 – Ten photos taken during one day or event documenting that day or event and posted on the 1oth of the month.)

I love that July’s 10 on 10 post fell on our summer vacation to Myrtle Beach. It made me do what I always put off…. take decent photos of our family AND (and that’s the biggest part so I’ll state it again!) AND to edit those photos so that they’re more than just files among files stored on my hard drive and easily forgotten. I know I’ve said this before but as a working photographer, photos of your own family are often set aside. At least now I have 10 photos to prove that we were really at the beach. Or, based on my photos, that my husband, our sons, and the dog were at the beach because when have I ever made it in a photo?!  A foot here, a shadow there…the only proof that mom was there!

So here are 10 photos from our typical day at the beach. This summer was a first for us…heading to the beach with our large Standard Poodle Patrick. That included 15 hours of driving with Patrick in the very back, finding a hotel that would accept a large white dog, teaching Patrick to climb a set of spiral stairs inside the condo (not pretty, especially after my hubby had to rescue him mid-flight when he got stuck at a turn), and convincing Patrick that the waves were not trying to attack him. After a few days, Patrick and our other two sons, were seasoned beach bums!

Every morning started with a walk on the beach or a visit to the local dog park so Patrick could stretch his legs. Here he is doing a perfect “Downward Dog” yoga move after waking up.

My oldest reading Diary of the Wimpy Kid while we wait for the crazy hot temps to go down a bit before hitting the beach.

Finally on the beach and playing in the sand

Hubby hanging out…

And my beach must-haves…a favorite refreshing drink with a green pop top and a good…er…. really good book!

Playing with the skim board…or fighting over who gets to use it. Either or!

Heading inside to clean up after a day on the beach…

Playing on the beach in the early evening…AFTER their showers, of course!

Another run on the beach for Patrick! Dogs are allowed on the beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m., on a leash but we were sneaky because the poor guy HAD to run.

A pooped-out Patrick and some very tired boys on the couch at night

What a fun trip…don’t you love brothers? Either best friends or mortal enemies and the status can change in an instant. These images reveal a wonderful family time and the hand in the sand? I can feel it!

Love a good beach trip (especially when the kids are older!). Beautiful shots. Super image of the boys on the beach in the evening. So playful and fun.
