Another weekend, another festival. But what a great way to get to know Asheville. My family and I have been living here since mid-summer with many weekends spent in festival mode. It’s been an easy and cheap way to get out, visit different neighborhoods and get to know the people. It’s also been a great way to do a little photography as I work on rebuilding my business in Asheville. Our latest outing…the Asheville Greek Festival.

I love Greek food. Love! So when we heard about the festival on the grounds of  Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in the historic Montford neighborhood, we were ready. And hungry.

The weekend was gorgeous with blue skies and perfect 70-degree temps. We parked down the street and walked through the Montford area, a gorgeous residential neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When we arrived at the church, our boys spotted the children’s area and were off. We spotted the food and waited patiently for the kids to wear down.

The food was SO good – meatballs, Souvlaki, Moussaka, Spanakopita and one my favorites…Dolmades! We sat outside to eat, listened to authentic Greek music and watched the adult and youth groups dance. Great food, great weather, great day!
