Tea for Two (North Carolina family photographer)

As I’ve mentioned many times before, I have boys. And having boys means having a house full of dirty socks, smelly clothes, messy rooms and chaos. So when there’s an opportunity to play “girl” for a bit with all things pink and sweet like here, I get a wee bit excited.

At a recent session, the mom of two blond-haired sisters suggested we take a few shots with a new tea set she’d bought for her girls. Playing tea time instead of maneuvering around miniscule Lego pieces or avoiding a surprise attack by a Nerf gun my oldest recently modified to shoot faster? Um…I’ll take the tea, please.

The girls, wearing pink dresses and sparkly sandals, spread a blanket in my backyard where we held the photo session and sat calmly while mom brought out the surprise set. She’d also packed a few stuffed animals to partake in tea time. Sweetness overload!

The little ones carefully unpacked the fragile set and started pretending. They sipped, toasted and checked to see if the little cups could fit in their mouths. (They are still kids after all. And yes, the cups did fit.) And they shared “tea” with the stuffed tiger and Minnie Mouse who attended.

I snapped away as the sun set provided that amazing dappled golden light. And I quietly did my best Doris Day rendition of Tea for Two, with the tune quickly getting stuck in my head. I bet you’re singing it now, too. Tea for two and two for tea….

So if you’re overloaded with boy “stuff,” sit back with a cup of tea, in your frilliest, pink frock, and enjoy the photos.
